It's a Rock! Valley of Fire SP, Nevada
What an absolutely gorgeous morning! As soon as I made a sound this morning, Beau was up. We got out the door in short order and went for a walk just as the sun was peeking up on the eastern horizon. Everything was still quiet with the exception of the morning birds. As the sun cast it's rays onto the world around us, everything came to life. The rock formations glowed red and the bird's song got louder. It was spectacular!
Getting back to the rig I had my famous (to me) egg burritos and a coffee then went out to check on campsite #1 to see if the current residences were still there. My friends Chuck and Annette were coming today and I was staking the spot out for them with a couple of chairs and a new payment stub to show it occupied. Walking back again to the trailer, my neighbors K and M invited me to grab another cup of coffee and Beau and enjoy the morning with them on the "patio". They had a couple of pups as well and they enjoyed eachother's company while we visited and learned about eachother's travels, where we were from, and about our families, etc. They're great folks and we chatted until almost lunch and watched the scramble of the newcomers to the campground as they maneuvered to snatch up sites as others left. It was actually quite entertaining now that I wasn't one of them. By noon it was a very pleasant 74 degrees and I was really enjoying the sunshine on my face. Beau and the pups had all settled down to doze in the warmth of the sun.

After lunch I initiated some minor repairs on the trailer and enjoyed reading my book and enjoyed relaxing in the afternoon warmth. My friends arrived with their rig late in the afternoon and after they were settled it was cocktail hour and we caught up on all the news. It had been several months since I had seen them last and since then they had gained a grandson and had lots of stories to share and I told them about my trip so far. Chuck grilled up some chicken and I brought over a cabbage salad to share. At the end of the evening I walked back to the trailer and took Beau for a walk. There was a half moon and a clear sky so I didn't even need a flashlight. It was a beautiful night and some of the other campers had small campfires going. It was neat to watch the flames cast their shadows up against the sides of the red cliffs behind them.
