July 28th

It was a pretty casual morning. I woke early again and just sat at the galley table and read while Runningbird continued to do some long deserved dosing. When she woke I made her some coffee and she took Beau out for a walk in the pleasant morning breeze. We chatted for a while and then she pulled out “Merlin”, her bird app, and we noted all the morning bird sounds; the Common Osprey, Morning Doves, Canadian Goose, seagulls, robin. Very cool app. About 0900 fellow hiker “Empedo” called from her hotel in a bit of a panic. She had to submit a video reading to apply for a part in a play of Little Women in Juneau and wanted Peggy’s help putting it together and submitting it. Peggy borrowed my iPad and walked the few blocks up the road to help her.

Meanwhile I got the dishes cleaned up and prepared the rig for our trip home. While I was getting the outside gear together and chairs put away I visited with our neighbor John again and mostly about RVs while his wife Diana played with Beau. I said goodbye and pulled the rig around to the dump station and finished just as Runningbird returned. We got on the I-84 towards Portland, then the 205 and I-5 north. We stopped for fuel and Subway but other than that it was a straight shot home. It had been another great adventure but we were all ready to get home. Even Beau seemed to sense something out of the normal was afoot. As we made our way along we discussed plans for Runningbird to get back on the trail in about a week or so at White Pass, WA to hike to Snoqulamie Pass. That will be a quick 2 hour drive down and she’ll roughly four days and call when she gets to Snoqulmie Pass for a pickup. With that complete she’ll just need Rainy Pass to Hart’s Pass up towards the Canadian border and then at some later time, Hart’s Pass to Manning Park.

It was nice getting home and getting resettled. Beau immediately went to the grass and started rolling all around. I imagine it was his idea of a big hug to his home. A neighbor was so kind to have mowed our lawn for us as otherwise it would have been a long ugly job. I got the trailer quickly backed into the driveway after 11 days of practice on the road and then hooked it up to power. After that everything else could wait. It was time to relax for a bit and then Peggy would go visit her mom for a bit and then we had a wedding that we were excited to go to. Until the next adventure - Wingman.
