CDT 2023 - Day 20 - Hikers Hut towards the Red

McDonalds for the big coffee and work back towards the Red Line.

Runningbird gave me a call in the morning after she was up and out of the Hiker's Hut. There is an hour difference between WA and MT and she was heading to McDonald's for a Big (bet you thought she was going to say "Mac" too didn't ya?) Coffee to get her moving. She mentioned she had seen a big camo, heavy canvas, waist belt in the hut just like the one UK Isaac had when we were in Leadore. I texted him later in the day and confirmed that he was there but didn't get back to the Hut until late. He must of been one of the hikers I heard that went to the show and saw "The Little Mermaid". The only thing showing in town. It was that or one of the ladies persuaded him to go out for margaritas.

In the afternoon I made a few changes to my reservations in Montana for the coming week and got the last of my gear and the truck ready to roll in the morning. After dinner I check Runningbird's track and she chewed off 31.5 miles today. When I spoke to her in the evening she was having her tea and I commented about the mileage. She said it's a lot easier to cover more miles when you're not getting lost all the time. Now she's back on the Red Line - the main trail, Some time in the next couple days a section of the trail is closed as some big equipment is making some sort of repairs so there will be another alternate trail on the Yellow Line. Stay tuned.
