Moving On and the Country Store Front Porch

Flesher Pass Trailhead, MT
It was a beautiful Sunday morning. Cool, quiet, slow. Alarm went off a 0500 and almost instant double Yuban coffees and on the road by 0600. Runningbird had regrouped and reorganized her supplies the day before and we projected out the timeline for the rest of the trail. Her path would be fairly straight forward, mine, not so much. We're at the height of the season for Glacier National Park visits and a lot of things have changed relative to getting into the park and getting a campsite. Other options outside of the park are expensive. Campground reservations opened six months ago. I'm taking it a day at a time. It's really hard to made hard plans not knowing what obstacles Runningbird might encounter along the way - downed trees, fire damage, heat, elevation, water availability. I won't add fatigue as Runningbird seems to just push right through that. Definately not saying she doesn't get tired.

Nice start to the trail. Cross the highway and than straight up the Stairway to Heaven.

After putting her on the path, I drove on to the town of Lincoln to have a look since it was going to be one of our landing spots early on in our planning. Glad we didn't go with it. While it was certainly larger than Canyon Creek (anywhere would be larger than Canyon Creek), and it did have a gas station, there was just something about it that turned me off. For one thing, the City Park that has a campground where I would have stayed was packed with campers, trailers, trucks, and cars - all of which had canopies out and were selling their wares. It had been turned into a full-on flea market. Probably for the whole county. I fueled up and got out.

It's only the parts of the trail that you can see from the highway that they maintain. I think.
Midday and it has warmed up substantially. Like Hot! I was going to head north today but have since decided I would wait another day. I have electricity here and the T@B A/C is working great. I'll find somewhere further north tomorrow that I can use as a launching pad to get to the next resupply point. Besides, everything seems to be closed around here on Sundays, except for the casino, gas station, and flea market in Lincoln.
